Margaret Lachut……Artist…Teacher

Margaret grew up in a small country town in south Texas.  After moving  to RI, she  worked as a fashion illustrator.   Margaret put her artistic career endeavors on hold for marriage and family.  As the children grew older, she had more time for art.  She taught art at  the Cumberland elementary schools.  Presently, she gives private art lessons to teens and adults.

Margaret has three art degrees.  The first from Incarnate Word University of San Antonio, Texas.  And after her children went to school, she pursued a Master’s of Art Education degree and later a Master’s of Studio Painting degree, both from Rhode Island College.  She has and is always studying with fellow artists…” you never want to stop learning”…workshops with such people as Wolf Kahn, Al Alberbertson, Judy Wagner, Herman Itchkawitz, Rob Longly, Paul George,etc…

Margaret has won national recognition with an Award of Excellence from the Oil Painters of America; an award from the RI Watercolor Society National show; Best of Show at the Audubon Society Blackstone Valley Regional Art Show; and Best of Show with the Wickford Art Association; and other local awards.
