"Oil painting has been my primary
medium for years. In using oils, there are two personalities that emerge. My
still lifes are in the “Realist” camp, showing very refined details. On
the other hand, when I am painting landscapes outdoors, I feel the energy of the sun
and the fresh air which inspire a more ”Impressionistic” approach. The
French Impressionist were trying to capture the effects of sunlight on their canvases
so many years ago; and I also am trying to capture the effects of sunlight on my subject
matter in the use of color and my particular brush strokes."
