From the Artist: "Pastels, the substitute drawing in color medium.  Technically, it is called a painting medium; but every time I use pastels, I feel like I am drawing.  I especially like the very velvety, rich look that pastels can achieve.  I feel that you can achieve the purest and richest colors using pastels."
